“Let me list the reasons he belongs”
It is not a matter of too few positions. It is a matter of the human element that has become such a buzz-word with all the recent officiating blunders.
The process is imperfect — from the fan vote to player selections to manager selections. On top of that, every team has to be represented even if they’re horrible and don’t have a legitimate All-Star.
We have to live with it, but here are my biggest All-Star snubs heading into today’s game in Ana-heim, Calif:
Who: Detroit Tigers out fielder
Why: Let me List the reasons this rookie belongs. He has shot off the charts since an early callup to replace an injured Carlos Guillen. He’s hitting nearly .350 with a .600-plus slugging percentage, ranking him among the AL’s top five in both categories.
ESPN’s layson Stark described it perfectly. He’s performing like everyone expected Atlanta rookie
Jason Heyward to coming out of spring training. Too bad Boesch is in a loaded American League.
